Child Care Center featuring Stevenswood

This June, Eyota opened up a brand new child care facility, Little Eagles Child Care Center. The builder of the facility, TLS companies LLC, came to us to take on the task of providing the cabinetry. When coming up with a design we wanted to keep in mind 3 things: safety, durability, and functionality. We wanted to provide a space that has a lot of storage and ways to keep harmful or hazardous materials out of the reach of the children. We also wanted the space to optimize functionality for the employees of the child care center in order for them to perform their jobs effectively and efficiently for the children.

Another big factor we had to consider was what material would withstand the chaos and rampage of up to 96 children. We needed a material that would not scratch or dent easily and that would be very easy to clean. Our Simplicity Collection offered the perfect material: Stevenswood.

Stevenswood is made of a Western Pine Core, Thermofused Melamine. These high pressure laminates have enhanced textures and realistic and trendy patterns that are made with 100% recycled and recovered materials. The tough outer coating provides durability and resistance to external elements, also making them very easy to clean. Another huge benefit is that we can offer this product at a fraction of the price of our real wood species.

The color featured in this project was Midnight Echo from Stevenswood's Rain Collection

We are currently working on another child care center in Stewartville, MN that will also be featuring Stevenswood! Not only can Stevenswood be a great addition to a child care center, it can be a great addition to any commercial application. Stay tuned for posts about how we have worked hand-in-hand with builders and architects using our Simplicity Collection on an apartment complex, a hotel lobby, and a hair salon.
