At Higgins Custom Cabinetry, we buy only the highest quality hardwoods and hand pick each piece for grain match and color consistency. Oak displays an intense and prominent grain. Maple has a fine, smooth grain. Cherry exhibits a more pronounced range of variations. Hickory is known for flowing grain, dramatic color variations, and visible knots. And Alder, the new popular choice in woods, has the look of cherry but is more reasonably priced. The post-catalyzed conversion varnish finishing system we use offers the ultimate in durability and appearance.
